Surabaya, June 6, 2026 – The International Seminar (SEMINTER) 2026 was successfully organized By the English Language Education Study Program Student Association (HMP PBI) of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. Carrying the theme “Preparing Future Educators for a Globalized World × TOEFL Preparation,” the seminar aimed to provide students with Valuable insights into the role of English in global education while equipping them with practical Strategies for TOEFL preparation.
The event began at 08:35 AM with a cultural performance by members of the organizing committee, Who presented the traditional dance “Sorote Lintang.” The performance created a lively and welcoming Atmosphere for all participants. Following the performance, the Master of Ceremony (MC) officially Opened the seminar and welcomed the speakers, guests, and participants. Throughout the event, the Sessions were moderated by Muhammad Farid Ubaidillah, S.Pd., who guided theiscussions and ensured The seminar ran smoothly from the beginning until the end.
The first session was delivered by FS. A. David Anthony Oakley, BA, a native English speaker, who Presented the topic “The Importance of Mastering English as an International Language in Global Education.” During his presentation, he emphasized the significance of English as a global language And explained how strong English proficiency can open wider opportunities in education, communication, and professional development. Through engaging explanations and real-life examples, Participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of English in today's interconnected World. After the presentation, participants enthusiastically took part in a question-and-answer session. The discussion allowed attendees to interact directly with the speaker, ask questions, and share their Perspectives regarding English learning and its role in global education. The session created an engaging atmosphere and encouraged active participation from the audience. As a token of Appreciation for his valuable contribution, FS. A. David Anthony Oakley, BA was presented A certificate by Nurul Hidayati, Chairperson of HMP PBI.
The seminar then continued with the second session presented by Titis Kusuma Dewi, S.Pd., M.Ed. Her presentation, entitled “TOEFL Preparation: An Introduction and How to Prepare and Get a High Score,” provided participants with practical guidance on understanding the TOEFL test structure and Effective preparation strategies. She shared useful tips and techniques for improving TOEFL Performance, helping participants become more confident in preparing for the examination. Following the presentation, participants once again actively joined the question-and-answer session. Various questions were raised regarding TOEFL preparation, study strategies, and common challenges Faced by test takers. Through this interactive discussion, participants gained additional insights and Practical advice directly from the speaker. At the conclusion of the second session, Titis Kusuma Dewi, S.Pd., M.Ed. received a certificate of appreciation from Siti Muflikhah Dwi Lestari, Chairperson of SEMINTER 2026, in recognition of her valuable contribution and participation as a speaker.
Towards the closing session, members of HMP PBI entertained the audience with special musical Performances. They performed “I Like You So Much, You'll Know It” by Ysabelle Cuevas and “Monokrom” by Tulus, creating a warm and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone present. The Performances served as a refreshing conclusion to a day filled with learning and meaningful Discussions.
The event concluded with closing remarks from the MC, followed by a documentation session involving the Speakers, committee members, and participants. Overall, SEMINTER 2026 successfully provided a platform for Learning, sharing experiences, and gaining inspiration. Through insightful presentations, interactive discussions, And entertaining performances, the seminar encouraged participants to continue developing their English skills And prepare themselves to become globally competitive future educators.
