ELED STUDENT CONNECT 2026; Connecting Minds: Embracing New Beginnings, Shaping a Brightner Future
Surabaya, September 5, 2026 – ELED Student Connect was successfully
organized by the English Education Student Association (HIMA PBI) of the
Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. This
special event was held to welcome new English Education students under the
theme "Connecting Minds: Embracing New Beginnings, Shaping a Brighter
Future." Eled Student Connect aims to help new students prepare for
university life, build meaningful connections, and gain valuable insights from
experienced seniors.
The event began at 8:15 AM and was opened by the hosts, Annisa Nur
Fadhillah and Putri Sitoresmi Masruroh. This was followed by welcoming remarks
from the Secretary of the English Language Education Study Program and the
Chairperson of HIMA PBI. The subsequent session was the highlight of the ELED
Student Connect 2026 event, featuring new student introductions and interactive
games. The hosts facilitated these activities engagingly and enjoyably, while
the new students actively participated, enlivening the event and getting to
know one another. Additionally, two outstanding alumni from the UIN Sunan Ampel
English Language Education Study Program were invited as guest speakers to
share their knowledge and experiences directly with the new students.
The first session was led by Wahyu Puspita Sari, S.Pd., the top
graduate of the English Education program at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, who
completed her degree in just three and a half years. She presented a topic
titled "Level Up: From School Student to Campus Explorer," explaining
how to navigate the transition from high school to university life. She shared
her own college experiences to serve as an example for the new students and
outlined key activities and insights for them to focus on over the coming week.
Following the presentation, the students enthusiastically participated in a
Q&A session, which allowed them to interact directly with the speaker, ask
questions, and share their perspectives on university life and matters related
to TOEFL or IELTS. In appreciation of her valuable contribution, Wahyu Puspita
Sari, S.Pd., was presented with a certificate by Nurul Hidayati, the
Chairperson of HMP PBI.
The second session, featuring the second presentation, was
delivered by Ainun Fikria, S.Pd., M.Pd. She is a distinguished alumna of the
English Education program and currently serves as an outstanding academic and
educator. She presented a topic titled "Graduation Speedrun: Smart
Strategies to Graduate on Time Without Burning Out," outlining the
planning and strategies necessary to navigate university life successfully.
During her talk, she emphasized three key actions for students: taking action,
perseverance, and resilience. Before concluding the presentation, she invited a
new student to share their reflections on the day's takeaways. Following the
presentation, a Q&A session was held for the students. This session
highlighted the vital importance of building connections during university and
reading extensively, specifically journals and articles. In appreciation of her
valuable insights and dedication, Ainun Fikria, S.Pd., M.Pd., was presented
with a certificate by Syaviera Annisa Dwiputri, the organizing committee chair
of ELED Student Connect.
After two substantive yet enjoyable presentations, the event
continued with a musical performance by a member of the English Education
Student Association, who sang "You Will Be in My Heart." This session
created a warm and delightful atmosphere for all the students, offering a
refreshing interlude amidst a program filled with learning and meaningful
discussion.
Towards the conclusion of the event, promotional activities were
held for various events and programs organized by the English Language
Education Student Association such as JEC, English Week/English Club, Redzone,
Skill and Talent, Merchandise Entrepreneurship, and EAGER. These promotions
involved displaying videos or posters and explaining the nature of the events
and programs.
The event concluded with closing remarks from the host, followed by
a photo session and eating rujak together, enjoyed by both the organizing
committee and the new students. Overall, ELED Student Connect 2026 successfully
served as a platform for building connections, sharing experiences, and gaining
inspiration. Through fun icebreaker games, insightful presentations,
interactive discussions, entertaining performances, and a communal meal that
fostered a sense of family, ELED Student Connect encouraged new students to
prepare for university life, build relationships, and gain valuable insights
from experienced seniors and alumni.
