EAGER 2025:
Growing Together as the New PBI Generation
The ceremony began with greetings from the MC, followed by remarks from the chief executive, the Head of HMP PBI, and the department secretary, and closed with lively group chants to boost participants’ enthusiasm. Participants joined a series of material sessions starting with the first speaker, Dr. Agil Abdur Rohim, M.Pd., who delivered material on character building and academic orientation for new students. This was followed by an additional session, “Introduction to Campus Life,” delivered by Ma’am Rakhmawati, M.Pd., which explained academic culture, classroom ethics, and general insights into campus life. The program continued with the second speaker, Zulfikri Malik who presented material on learning motivation and personal development. The final session was delivered by the third speaker, Fs. (Af) David Anthony Oakley, B.A., a native speaker who discussed effective communication and the use of English in academic and professional contexts. These sessions were designed to equip freshmen with the academic readiness and character needed to navigate university life. Participants later joined a mentoring forum where they shared their early experiences, discussed challenges, and strengthened their connection with the organizing team.
The event continued with the Inauguration segment, where each group showcased their creativity through various performances such as drama, acoustic music, traditional dance, modern dance, and fashion shows. The lively atmosphere encouraged students to express their talents and practice teamwork. After the performances, the program proceeded with Makrab (Social Night), which included interactive games, light entertainment, and a reflection session. This activity fostered a warm atmosphere of togetherness and became a meaningful highlight of the event. Participants also took part in a group photo session, forming the letters “PBI” as a symbol of identity and unity among English Education students. An outbound session was then held, focusing on teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through various outdoor games.
The Closing Ceremony featured closing remarks from the department secretary and HMP PBI members, the election of the 2025 Cohort Leader, the announcement of the EAGER 2025 King and Queen, and awards for the best-performing groups. The program concluded with a gift exchange session, creating a warm and memorable ending before participants prepared to return to campus. With the completion of all activities, EAGER 2025 was officially closed. The program is expected to serve as an essential foundation for freshmen in understanding the environment of the English Language Education Study Program, building positive relationships, and developing the character needed as future educators and academics.
